Youth Volunteer Leaders (VL) are at the heart of our organization. Not only do they make a meaningful and periodic practice of volunteering but they also lead by example and invite others to do the same.
What does a Youth Volunteer Leader do?
The Youth Volunteer Leader plays an important role in managing and carrying out service projects for the Youth Volunteer Corps. Although each project has both an Adult and Youth Volunteer Leader, the Youth VL is really the person in charge of the project. He or she provides the leadership and commitment to the project in order to make it a worthwhile and enjoyable experience for our other youth volunteers.
What are a Youth Volunteer Leader’s Responsibilities?
• Acting as the contact person for individuals interested in the project.
• Using one’s interpersonal skills to communicate information to the community service agency and other volunteers.
• Educating participating volunteers about the project.
• Staying organized with the project’s paperwork and turning it in to HOM on time.
• Reporting pertinent information (results, attendance, etc.) about the project to HOM staff.
• Developing one’s leadership skills and experience.
