Protecting Pelican Harbor
Pelican Harbor is a great "in-town" marina where you can cruise the intracoastal to head out to sea with great ocean access at either Haulover inlet or Government Cut. Pelican Island, a 10-acre nature preserve and bird sanctuary, is just 400 yard offshore.
Volunteers will help to maintain Pelican Harbor with the following activities:
Volunteers will help to maintain Pelican Harbor with the following activities:
- Planting of seasonal plants and shrubs
- Mulching
- Painting of facility buildings
- Coastal clean-up of the shoreline
- Removal of debris and maintenance of Pelican Island
- Volunteers will meet at the Welcome Center
- Minimum age for volunteers is 17 yrs old and 10 yrs old for those accompanied by an adult
- Work will be primarily outside in exposed areas, so please dress accordingly
