GARDEN: The Little Garden in Little Havana
“The project lead was very polite and resourceful. I had a great experience and will definitely be part of more projects.”
- HandsOn Miami Volunteer, Sujey B.
Join HandsOn Miami as we help the Miami River Commission maintain the community fruit and vegetable garden that HandsOn Miami volunteers created in 2009. The garden provides free access to fresh fruits, veggies and herbs to the residents of the Robert King High Towers - affordable public housing for senior citizens.
After garden maintenance is complete, we will work to clean up the shoreline along the Miami River.
NEED TO KNOW:
- Volunteers should bring work/gardening gloves to ensure their hands are protected while working in the garden and completing shoreline clean up.
- Closed-toe shoes are required - those wearing Crocs, flip-flops or sandals will not be able to fully participate in the project.
- Please bring a bottle of water to ensure you stay hydrated throughout the experience.
- Volunteers as young as 10 can volunteer alongside an adult. Please email KToimil@HandsOnMiami.org to register your child to volunteer alongside you.
