Agency: Here's Hope/Salvation Army
Description:
PLEASE NOTE: In an effort to be even more accountable to our volunteers
and agency partners, Hands On Miami volunteers are now required to
present ID when signing in at all volunteer opportunities. Volunteers
13 years of age or older must now present some form of ID which matches
your name on the project’s sign-in sheet. Free on a Thursday night? Play games and enjoy after dinner refreshments with the residents of Here's Hope at the Salvation Army. Here's Hope serves clients living with HIV/AIDS by providing transitional housing, meals, case management, NA and AA
support groups, individual drug and alcohol counseling, HIV education,
life skills, and ESL classes and health care to individuals and families
infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. "This event
really helped me gain a new insight on homeless people. I have much more
sympathy and respect for them now. Over all it was a great expeirence,
definetly would love to do it agian!" Hands On Miami Volunteer “Do
what you can, with what you have,
where you are.” -Theodore Roosevelt And Remember! Hands On Miami and the residents of Here's Hope are really counting on you to be there, so if you sign up, please be sure to attend. If you are unable to attend please remove yourself from the project or contact your project’s Volunteer Leader or the Hands On Miami office to let us know you can’t attend AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Removing yourself from a project you can’t attend allows another volunteer who would like to attend a space to join the project! We don’t want to disappoint those we are trying to serve.
Volunteers MUST be 21 years and older. For more information about Salvation Army Here's Hope Program see project resources.
