Join Hands On Miami to help the Miami River Commission maintain the community fruit and vegetable garden that Hands On Miami volunteers created just this past September at Little Havana's Robert King High Towers. A sustainable garden that provides fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers to the seniors who reside here. We think volunteering here is a great way to spend a Saturday morning! We will also work to cleanup the shoreline along the Miami River after we complete each occurrence's gardening! Volunteers MUST bring gardening/work gloves with them...you will need them!
After volunteers are done with the day's activities which could include planting new plants, weeding, trimming, watering and cleaning
the shoreline they are welcome to take home some fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, or flowers from the garden! No prior gardening experince necessary but always gladly welcomed!
And Remember!
Hands On Miami and the Miami River Commission are really counting on you to be there, so if you sign up, please be sure to attend. If you are unable to attend please remove yourself from the project or contact your project’s Volunteer Leader or the Hands On Miami office to let us know you can’t attend AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Removing yourself from a project you can’t attend allows another volunteer who would like to attend a space to join the project! We don’t want to disappoint those we are trying to serve.
This is a family-friendly project. The minimum age with an adult is 10.
Be advised volunteers should bring work gloves, sun screen,
and a water bottle!\
