Community Conversation: 9/11 Day of Service
In this tense time of physical and social distancing, HandsOn Miami invites you to share your thoughts and experiences with your fellow South Floridians.
Where were you on September 11, 2001? And how has life changed because of that day?
Join us Friday September 11th at 3:00 pm for a virtual community conversation on the call to service in the shadow of tragedy on 9/11. The conversation will be built around a brief reading provided by Humanities New York that will spark conversation and will be facilitated by a member of HandsOn Miami's team. We are also pleased to have Lance Becca, General Manager of Electric Operations at Consolidated Edison joining us to share his story of service in the wake of 9/11. Con Edison was the New York-based utility tasked with the herculean effort of assisting first responders in survivor aid and restoring electricity and gas service to impacted areas of the city.
Students can receive 2 service hours by participating in the community conversation and an additional assignment, email cindy@handsonmiami.org for the details after registering for the community conversation.
