Dear Friends and Partners,

For 50 years, our organization has been on the frontlines of kindness, mobilizing people to create meaningful impact for South Florida communities. From our inception in 1974 as a small volunteer center called Volunteer Broward, we have always believed in putting people at the center of change, and that every single individual has the power to make a difference.

Over the years our organization grew, and with support from the Children’s Services Council of Broward County, we adopted a hands-on service model and became HandsOn Broward in 2010. By 2013, we opened our HandsOn Miami location and now, as we enter our 50th year of inspiring service and civic engagement, we are proud to be bringing both organizations together as we launch HandsOn South Florida.

Volunteering is one of America’s most enduring traditions, and while its importance is often most visible in the wake of crises, it is daily that communities are most powerfully transformed by the service of caring citizens. Through thousands of locally driven community initiatives, volunteers not only engender positive change, but they sustain it over time. Without their tireless efforts, society begins to fragment, communities cease to be whole, and our democracy is diminished.

In our five decades, HandsOn South Florida has evolved from a referral-oriented volunteer center to a direct-service provider and affiliate of the global Points of Light Institute. As South Florida’s premier community mobilizer, thousands of individuals, groups, and socially responsible businesses look to us each year for opportunities to make a difference in local neighborhoods. We invite you to join us as we celebrate the past fifty years of impact and launch our next fifty as HandsOn South Florida.

Sincerely,

Dale Mandell
