Reading Tutor for Uplift Literacy
Uplift Literacy is a Miami-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that believes literacy is the cornerstone to lifelong success. We partner with schools in underserved communities to empower children with the necessary literacy skills and resources to read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade, a milestone that is a significant indicator of a child’s future educational development.
This fall, Uplift Literacy will be offering free programs at local schools to support the development of literacy skills and encourage a love for reading.
Helping children reach their full potential through literacy is a powerful way to give back to the community. Our compassionate volunteers change lives by equipping children from underserved communities with the necessary lifelong literacy skills to thrive.
We welcome volunteers from various professional backgrounds to come together and give the gift of literacy.
Uplift Literacy provides all training and materials needed to become a reading tutor.

Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Undergo a Miami Dade County Public School's background check
- Participate in a 1.5 hour literacy instruction training
- Commit to a minimum of 1 hour a week
- Complete a volunteer application
