UNIDAD is a private, non-profit organization established by concerned residents of Miami Beach interested in addressing the needs and concerns of our city's sizeable community. Membership in UNIDAD is open to any interested individual, including non-residents of the City of Miami Beach. All of our meetings are open to the public is invited to attend. UNIDAD is concerned with preserving and promoting the vibrant ethnic, racial, religious and cultural diversity of our community. We believe that one of the great strengths of the City of Miami Beach is the rich mix of diverse people, which populates our city. As our City and its leading civic institutions adapt to changing demographics, UNIDAD is committed to working in partnership with existing and new groups to help promote respect for diversity as an important public value. The future of Miami Beach depends on the successful integration of the very many diverse elements of our community into one cohesive whole. Many of our most pressing problems have their source in our greatest strength: The fact that Miami Beach has become a magnet for the many diverse races, religions, and ethnic groups that populate this hemisphere. As South Florida solidifies its position as the "Capital of the Americas" our local community must develop a shared consensus which celebrates our diversity, bridges our differences and builds community through nondiscriminatory and pluralistic ideas and institutions. To this important mission, UNIDAD of Miami Beach, Inc. is committed, with the goal of helping Miami Beach become the multi-cultural, multi-ethic, and multi-racial community, which is our city's best and most compelling destiny.
